On December 13th we departed from Atlanta to start our journey to Nigeria!

Through out all the excitement surrounding our departure, the stack of medicine bags provided a reminder of the long journey ahead-Demetria Walker

  1. Arriving to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport felt surreal. The airport was the first time everyone attending the trip all met up in the same location. We were all super excited to leave and start our journey. You could not detect our exhaustion from finishing up our final exams just a couple days prior. Not a student seemed worried or fearful about the journey. We all had the chance to meet Dr. Okobah, the president and founder of the Isioma Okobah Foundation. She provided much comfort to our families accompanying our departure. She provided further information about the security we would have upon entering Nigeria and though our stay. This information seemed to relax our families and friends. Through all the excitement, the medicine bags all stacked together provided a reminder of the work that would fill our medical mission trip. After meeting up, we were faced with our first challenge of rearranging all the medicine bags to make sure they did not weigh over 50lbs. We worked together to redistribute medicine to different bags, including our personal luggage. Then we proceeded to security in a parade manner, all smiling laughing and talking about the adventure ahead!
